I did some sculpting at the zoo recently with live elephants. They were good models because they stayed close to the front of the exhibit and didn't move too much. It was helpful to see the way the light and shadows hit the real elephant then be able to compare it to my model at the same time.

Really cool--I'll bet you got a lot of admirers crowding around you. Most of the animals at our zoo hide in the back or in the shade since we live in hothot texas so maybe I'll give this a shot in the fall--live sculpting sounds awesome!
Brilliant!
awesome!
Can I just say I was looking at your sculpture and realized that it looked awfully familiar, then I looked at the elephant in the background and realized you sculpted one of the elephants I used to work with. Excellent job, it looks just like her down to the hole in her ear!
Great sculpture, and you have captured its proportions perfectly!
